Pickford.

Privacy Policy.

Effective July 25, 2026

This policy explains what Lake Missoula Ventures, LLC collects when you use Pickford, why, and what you can do about it. We have tried to describe what the software actually does rather than reserve every right we could.

1. What we collect

Your email address. Needed to create your account and to send you a sign-in link. We do not use passwords.

Your display name, if you give one. It is optional, and is shown to people you pair with for shared recommendations.

Your taste information. The films you mark as loved or not for you, the streaming services you select, films you tell us you have already seen, the moods you choose, which recommendations you pick, and any feedback you give afterwards. This is the substance of the service.

Viewing history you choose to import. If you give us a public profile name on another film service, we read that profile's public feed. If you upload an export of your own data, we read the films, ratings, and review text it contains. We never ask for, receive, or store your password for any other service.

A short written summary of your taste, generated automatically from the above and shown to you on your profile.

Basic technical data that any website receives, such as IP address and browser type, handled by our hosting provider for security and reliability.

We do not collect payment card details. If paid features are offered, a payment processor collects and holds those details; we receive only a record that a subscription is active. We do not knowingly collect any special category data, and we ask you not to send us any.

2. Why we use it

To create and secure your account, to produce and improve your recommendations, to operate shared recommendations with a person you choose to pair with, to send you service email such as sign-in links, to prevent abuse, and to comply with law.

Where the law requires a legal basis, ours is performance of our agreement with you for operating the service, our legitimate interest in keeping it safe and improving it, and your consent where consent is asked for.

3. Automated recommendation wording

The sentence explaining why a film was suggested is written by an automated language model operated by Anthropic. What we send is your generated taste summary and information about the candidate films. We do not send your email address, your name, or your account identifier.

Our provider processes that text to return a response and does not use it to train their models. If the model is unavailable or returns something we cannot verify, we fall back to wording produced by our own templates.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We have never done either and have no plans to.

We use the following service providers, who process data on our instructions and only as needed to provide their service:

ProviderPurpose
SupabaseDatabase and account authentication
VercelApplication hosting and delivery
ResendDelivery of sign-in and account email
AnthropicGenerating the wording of recommendations
TMDBFilm metadata, images, and search
WatchmodeStreaming availability

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public. If the business is acquired or merged, information may transfer as part of that transaction, and this policy will continue to apply until you are told otherwise.

5. What other people can see

Your recommendations and taste information are private to your account, with one exception: if you pair with someone for shared recommendations, that person sees your display name and the films suggested for the two of you. They do not see your full taste profile, your history, or your email address.

6. Analytics

We keep product analytics deliberately minimal. At the time of this policy's effective date, no third-party analytics or advertising trackers are active on the service. If that changes, we will update this policy before turning anything on.

We use cookies only for signing you in and keeping you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and we delete your profile, taste information, imported history, recommendations, and feedback. Shared pairings you created are removed with it.

Deletion is immediate in our live systems. Encrypted backups held by our providers may retain copies for a short period before rotating out. We may keep a minimal record where the law requires it.

8. Your choices and rights

You can view and edit your taste information, change your streaming services, and delete your account from your profile page at any time. Deleting the account is immediate and permanent.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. Residents of California may request disclosure of the categories of information collected and may not be discriminated against for exercising a right. Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom may also lodge a complaint with their supervisory authority.

To exercise a right, email hello@pickford.app from your account address. We will respond within the period the law requires. We may need to verify your identity first.

If someone signs up using your email address without your involvement, the confirmation email includes a link that deletes that account outright. You do not need an account of your own to use it.

9. Security

We use encryption in transit, database-level access rules that keep each account's data separate, and passwordless sign-in so there is no password to steal or reuse. Access to production data is limited to those who need it.

No service can promise perfect security. If a breach affects your personal information we will notify you and any regulator as the law requires.

10. Where data is held

The service is operated from the United States and information is stored and processed there. If you use it from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy law may differ from your own.

11. Children

Pickford is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email hello@pickford.app and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The effective date above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be notified where appropriate. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
